What is BASA?
BASA (Bay Area Safe Alternatives) is one of San Francisco’s oldest and recognized cannabis dispensaries, serving the community since 2003. We focus on a safe, welcoming, wellness-forward experience for both medical patients and adult-use customers.
What are BASA’s hours?
Mon–Fri: 8:30 AM – 10:00 PM
Sat: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Sun: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
How old do I need to be to enter and shop?
Adult-use (recreational): 21+ with valid photo ID.
Medical patients: 18+ with valid medical documentation and photo ID.
What ID do you accept?
Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID (for example: driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID). We check ID at entry and again for pickup/delivery when required.
Do you support medical patients?
Yes. BASA is medical-rooted. Our team can help medical patients find products that fit their goals, tolerance, and routine, including low-dose options, balanced THC:CBD products, and non-intoxicating choices like many topicals.
How does BASA’s medical support help recreational customers?
Even if you shop recreationally, you can choose from the same regulated, lab-tested, state-compliant products that many medical customers prefer. Our budtenders can guide you toward gentler options (low-dose, balanced, and wellness-forward products) based on how you want to feel.
Do you offer online ordering and pickup?
Yes. When available, you can place an order online and pick up in-store. If something sells out, we’ll help you find the closest match.
Do you offer delivery in San Francisco?
Yes. BASA offers delivery within San Francisco (where available).
Delivery requirements:
– 21+ for adult-use customers
– 18+ for medical patients with valid documentation
– Valid photo ID is required at delivery
– Availability and timing can vary by neighborhood and demand
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and debit. We also have an ATM on-site for convenience.
Are your products lab-tested?
Yes. We carry licensed, regulated products. Many items include batch/QR information on the packaging (often linked to a Certificate of Analysis/COA). Ask our team if you’d like help locating testing info.
What’s the difference between THC and CBD?
THC is the main compound that can cause a high. CBD is typically non-intoxicating and is often chosen for a calmer, more functional experience. Many customers prefer balanced THC:CBD products for a smoother feel.
How long do edibles take to kick in, and what dose should I start with?
Edibles usually take 30–120 minutes to kick in and can last 4–8+ hours. If you’re new or sensitive, start low and go slow (many people start around 1–2.5mg THC) and wait at least 2 hours before taking more. Our team can help you choose the gentlest option.
